Operation Write Home Spring Training Blog Hop

Welcome to the Operation Write Home Spring Training Blog Hop!  Operation Write Home’s mission is supporting our armed forces by sending blank handmade greeting cards to write home on. If you came from Simon Says, then you're right on track.  To start at the beginning of the blog hop, please head over to Operation Write Home.

Today I'll be showing you two different techniques in my card creation.  The first one is adding texture to your image with Copic markers and Colorless Blender.  The second is paper piecing.  Both of these techniques work exceptionally well if you want to minimize the amount of coloring you need to do.

Step 1: Color the pants a solid color.  I used Copic E44 for this image.

Step 2: Put a little bit of Colorless blender onto a scrap piece of jeans.

Step 3: Press the cloth onto the colored pants.  The colorless blender will add the jean texture to the pants.

Step 4: Stamp the vest and hat onto scrap pieces of patterned paper.

Step 5: Fussy cut the vest and hat.  Make sure to cut on the black line.

Step 6: Line up and glue down the vest and hat.

Step 7: Color and create the rest of your card!

Well, I hope you have enjoyed the blog hop so far!  Your next and last stop on the hop is {Lawn Fawn}!  I hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Of all the techniques I have ever learned...this is the BEST! I am new to copic coloring and although I've gotten better with faces and hair, I really haven't gotten the knack of making clothing look realistic. The jeans trick is genius. Even I could pull that off. And paper piecing the vest and hat saves me the rest of the outfit. I will definitely be trying this one out...luckily my kids always have jeans with ripped knees...off to steal a patch.
