Labor Day Weekend SALE and Freebie Friday - Paper Piecing

I will be on vacation this holiday weekend, so all orders from today through Monday, will be shipped out on Tuesday, September 7th.  Starting right now, everything in the store is 10% off and the sale will run through Monday night at midnight.  Use the code LABORDAY to get the discount.  Click here or on the Buy Stamps link above to start shopping!

Paper piecing is one of my favorite techniques, though I will admit that I rarely do it.  Ever since I got hooked on coloring, I just tend to stick to my Copics.  My images are very detailed and I totally get that not everyone loves to color, lol.  I think paper piecing is a great alternative to coloring and you still get a fabulous wow factor!

Today, I will be giving away Swimming Lucy.  All you have to do is comment and tell me if you love to color images or not so much.  Are you more into paper piecing images like this?

Gina K did a lovely video on how to paper piece, and I just love her videos.  I think most of her Stamp TV videos are some of the best out there.  Here is the link to her paper piecing video.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBZqaotihp4&feature=related

This is such a fabbie card that my friend Amy made!  Didn't she do a fabulous job cutting out all the parts?!?

You have until Sunday night to comment and I will draw my winner on Monday when I draw the winner for Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps Challenge #8. Good luck!

Swimming Lucy certainly has the right approach to the pool,I can't swim without a full face mask lol,for some reason I just sink if my face gets wet Lol!!! A rubber ring is a far better idea and a cocktail to hold whilst in it........heaven!!!
Now I love the look of paperpiecing but always reach straight for my Copics, maybe I'll give it a go some time soon!.x

Ooo, paper piecing is my all-time fave technique! Gorgeous card by Amy - she sure rocked this technique! Still love my Copics though! I suppose it really depends of what image I've used as to whether I colour or paper piece! xx

Hi!! I'm more into cloring my images but I have tried paper piecing and it gives the images a great look. And I'm sure I will try this technique again. It will be perfect to do paper piecing on Swimming Lucy...a great image!!

I don't paper piece very often but I was actually looking to paper piece Lantern Rin the other night. I got intimidated and did something else.

I am enjoying learning about my copics and just wish I was already very talented with them.

Have a great holiday weekend.

I love how paper piecing looks, but always go for my markers. I like how people combine the two and make an outfit out of paper, but color the person or animal. That, I might give a try to, but I must be in the mood for all that fussy cutting....

I'm definitely an image colorer. I love the look of paper piecing just haven't had much luck when I've tried it. I'll check out Gina's tutorial. They're always really good. You did a fantastic job on this!

I love paper piecing ~ it just ties the image into your background papers so well (plus I just love the look of it) but admit that I don't do it as often as I would like ~ I usually end up grabbing my copics instead.

I love paper piecing and think it looks amazing, but I definitely spend most of my time coloring with my Copics. :)

I love my Copics but I also enjoy paper peicing too! Love the look you get sometimes! Have a great holiday weekend!

LOVE coloring! I love paper piecing as well! Sometimes an image needs just that to make it pop! Plus, if the image is rather large and I don't feel like coloring at the time, I would of course paper piece it! Have a fun vac, Sparkle!

Hey Sparkle!

I actually like to do both coloring and paper piecing! Sometimes when I'm in a rush, paper piecing is easiest. But to get the shadows and effect, coloring is best! :) Have a great weekend!

I LOVE to color, loved it as a kid, and still do!!! There are some stamps though that I really enjoy paper piecing though, like the "Stamping Bella" stamps, it's like playing dress up with your Barbie's, or anything to give your image depth is so much fun to do!!!!

She is so adorable! I love to color with my Prima Color pencils... but I also like to paper piece, so I guess I like a little bit of everything!!!

Hi Sparkle! I love to color images more than paper piecing. Coloring seem to be more fun for me esp. using it with copics and blending thenm. As for paper piecing I just don't like cutting to much and it takes more time piecing them together. But both are relaxing. Thanks!

I love both - the effects of paper piecing are so dramatic in the way they tie in with the rest of the composition. I've only done it a couple of times but love it. Thanks for the chance of having a go with it for Lucy - her bathing suit is a perfect candidate.

And I want to hang out with Lucy! Bobbing along, drinking a cocktail..... Not a bad way to spent a summer day!

I love love love to color! However, I love to pp too! I find the concentration necessary to paper piece well is very relaxing! It's one technique I pull out simply for it's therapeutic value! PS. I love your images!

What a cute card. Wonderful colors.
I do both paper piecing and coloring. I just love my Copics and the effects that I can get with them. Sometimes paper piecing is just the perfect way to go.

Have a good weekend.

Blessings,

Deb

I LOVE to color, that's all I do, hehe. Nope not really into paper piecing. Too much work. LOL

I have never tried paper piecing because it looks very tedious but I do LOVE to color!

Kelly Rae said...

I like to do both. Coloring is relaxing to me, it's a joy to be able to bring to life an outline image using colors. Paper piecing is a lot of fun because I get to play 'paper dolls' with the image as well as easily match the background to the image. Thanks for the chance to win that darling image!

I really like to color, and not just stamped images. I will still to this day pick up a really cool coloring book and a fresh box of crayons OH MY!

Like you, I have new Copics and am coloring up a storm - how fun. But I also love to paper piece and think Swimming Lucy is perfect for that. Happy Labor Day.

I like to color but dont have a large collection of copics yet so I do love paper piecing. It reminds me of playing paper dolls when I was a kid.

I love to color, I could spend hours doing so. I usually stamp or print digis and color in the evening while my dh is watching the tube. I do some paper piecing and find it adds a new deminsion to my project, but coloring is my fist love. thanks for the chance to win!

Hello Sparkle,
I had never tried paper peicing before so I checked out the video link you recommended and tried it out on my Rin stamp. It turned out really nice! However I found it a little bit too tedious for me. I love my copic markers. Thanks to my daughter for introducing them to me and thanks to Peggy Toole for helping select some colors to start wtih and ordering me more markers. I now have a healthy selection of markers. I'm hooked on copics now and have to say I prefer coloring to paper peicing.
