Freebie Friday - Copic Tutorials

I decided over the weekend to start doing Freebie Fridays. I will most likely share something and also give away something.  I will do these every Friday except during release weeks as we'll be typically be doing sneak peeks.

I get asked quite often to do a Copic coloring tutorial. There are a few factors as to why I still haven't, lol.

1. No video camera - I do have a digital camera, but can only record for a very limited amount of time
2. No tripod for my camera
3. I wouldn't be able to con Brent to spend hours filming me to do one...
4. There are already a ton out there that are fabulous.

So, today I thought I would share the Copic tutorials that I learned how to colored with. These were made awhile ago, since I started coloring a couple of years ago. Let me know if you have a newer favorite Copic tutorial video.  These are made from very popular and influential women in the crafting industry.  I'm sure most of you know who Sherri Seimens, Lauren Meader, and Suzanne Dean are.

Today's Freebie Friday is going to be a Surfing Oliver stamp. All you have to do is comment and tell me what you think or feel about Copics.
Here is a lovely card my friend Kim Yu made with Cupcake Ruby.  This girl has got fabulous coloring skills and she's Copic Certified!

Obviously I love and adore Copic markers, but I know they're not everyone's thing.  So please be respectful with your answer even if you don't like them or think they're too expensive. Good luck, I will draw a winner on Monday when I draw a winner for the Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps challenge #6.

This is a great post, Sparkle. I love my Copics because it lets me relax and just enjoy something I did as a kid....colour!

I'm still learning and need to practice, a lot, until I have mad skills like you and many of the other blogs I visit.

I would also love to win a Surfing Oliver!

Fab card by Kim! Cupcake Ruby is so cute with her yummy cupcake. I love copics because of the blending. I still need lot of practice using them.

Hi Sparkle - thanks for the links to the Copic Tutorials, I'll be sure to check them out as I am relatively new to the Copic world - about 6 months. I had delayed trying them as I knew that as soon as I did I would like them and want them all. I was right! Slowly but surely accumulating all of the markers - but I do still like using my PrismaColor Pencils w/OMS to get a different effect on certain images. Or for when I don't have just the right colour in my Copic Markers.

What a great idea about freebie Fridays. I just got into copics about 3 months ago and have so far to go. I really need to take the time to watch some tutorials out there but just haven't made the time. I'm sure they would help immensely. I probably need more colors as well. LOL Anyway, I love them, and so does my daughter now.

Anyway, you know I love the coloring that you do.

I only have 2 copics, both for skin color. I love them, but my budget doesn't allow for many more at this time.

I have seen absolutely gorgeous work done with Copics, but I haven't jumped on the Copic bandwagon. I have a few (6 to be exact) but I rarely use them. Just not really a colorer, I guess, and if I'm completely honest...kind of intimidated by them ;) I prefer to paper piece or use a blender pen with my ink pads. As for the expense, yes they could be considered expensive I guess, however, each pen is approx the same price as a good ink pad so it just depends on how you choose to grow your stash :)

I cannot afford copics, but they seem to be a good medium to work with, at least from what I can see from blogland! I'd love to win some and give it a try! Thanks for the chance at this cute image!

I will admit to loving my Copics, but like many have said, sometimes they are cost prohitited. I must say that I also like Bic Mark Its for their vividness. I started with them, and always seem to go back when I want to make something stand out!
Freebie Friday sounds like a great idea for you and who doesn't like a hottie with a surf board??

Wow I love what everyone has said about copics. I started about a year ago and love them. I'm just starting to feel comfortable with blending and shading. I need to work on more realistic hair, having said that, I love how Kim has done her highlights.

*sigh* I need soooo much practice! But on the flip side, I am so excited...my first order of your stamps should be arriving today!

Fun idea Sparkle! I love my copics and have collected them gradually. I love the effect they give and I have always loved to color - there is such a fantastic array of colors as well. I always felt so limited by my small selection of watercolor penicls, though I was never very good at it.

Great card by Kim too!
Cheers,
Shanna :)

I am 100 % in love with Copics - and have used them for about 1.5 years now.

One of the best things about them is that you can colour any embellishments to match your project, as they colour beautifully on brads, ribbon, paper flowers, pearls, bling, etc. !!!!!!

I am just learning about Copics took a basic course and trying to do lots of practice. Then maybe I will take the advance course.

I started the Copic trend not to long ago. I am in love with them. I just took a basic technique class last month and it was great.

I think the reason I love copics is because you can color things so realistically. I think I'm a decent color-er, but someday I hope to be like this gal - wowza!

Wow, freebie friday! Thank you for the chance. Your images are adorable! I love my copics!! I've just, in the last year or so, started a collection. It's growing fast, lol! I'm not great, but getting better the more I color :)

Awww...thanks so much for featuring my card, Sparkle! Totally brighten up my don't-know-what-I-am-feeling mood! I so needed it! Thanks a bunch!

This is a great idea, Sparkle! Thanks for sharing!

Oh Copic!!! I am totally ADDICTED! I used using them last year...started with a couple..then some more..and recently I got 30 more! You are probably wondering how many I have now. hehe Probably over 200!

I love them because I can blend the colors. I love experimenting with colors!

A thumbs up!!

I love, love, love my Copics. I received 4 sketch markers about six months ago and once I used them I hit the floor running (to my nearest craft store) and started adding to my wee collection. I have one BIG complaint about Copics..."I don't have enough of them!" lol

I love my Copics...they are an addiction! I am frustrated though that I have many that need refills and no money to buy any!

Some good tutorials! I wanted to share that a lot of the basics apply to many other color mediums as well as copics. I've used plenty of copic marker tutorials to help me improve my overall technique with pencils and waterbased markers as well as to learn how to color/blend with copics for the future when I hope to invest in them more ;) I love the few copics I do have and am looking forward to playing with them and all their fun techiques in the future!

Making my folders of digis to collect. Thanks for sharing all your thoughts!
