How It All Began

Thank you for all the guesses yesterday.  I used  Random.org and #40 Amy is my winner!  I will mail Swimming Lucy to you soon!

I will be selling bare deep etched red rubber stamps. I decided that it's just easier and gives you all more mounting options. I know that not everyone uses EZMount, so I figured those who use Tack n Peel would like this. And don't worry, for those who do use EZMount...I'm selling it in my store! :)

Today I thought I would share with you how this all began. I got my first job at 16 and I wrapped gifts at a department store. I think thats how I learned how to match patterns and colors together. :) I was one of the youngest employees that worked there, so I befriended the janitors, who were 'cool college boys.' I actually ended up taking one of them to my senior prom, lol.

Casey was always an eccentric guy and really believed in my art. He said to me, "Sparkle, one day you will become a designer...and I want you to call your line Sparkle Creations."

I went to art school my freshman year of college and gave up all hopes of making it in the world as an artist. I moved on to business and did a total 180. Today, I have a financial corporate job. I'm quiet in my office and I wear black suits everyday. But like my boss said...I have a very creative and colorful inside. :)

Brent has been asking me for years why I didn't want to do this sooner. The real answer...because I'm scared that this won't be fun anymore. I'm still scared of that, lol. But after thinking more about the future...escaping work layoffs...I want to be doing what I'm really passionate about. I won't be quitting my day job any time soon, but I do hope to do Sparkle Creations full time later down the road. That's my next big goal for me.

Today I am giving away Turntable Josh. Included with the Turntable Josh stamp is 6 sheets of Basic Grey Max and Whiskers paper, 20 mixed matching buttons, 3 feet of matching ribbon, 8 matching Prima flowers, and the card that I have created. I also used Unscripted Sketch #58 for this.

Paper: Basic Grey Max and Whiskers
Stamps: Amuse
Nestabilities, Copics, PTI Buttons, and BG Brads

You have until midnight tonight to tell me what your next big or important goal is.  It can be anything really, so don't feel like your small goals aren't worthy.  You'd never get to your big ones if you didn't make the small ones. :)  I will randomly choose a lucky winner! Good luck!

Congrats to Amy. Hmmm my next big goal?? That's quite a hard one to answer - I would like to be able to celebrate my Ruby Wedding Anniversary - my husband is 13 years older than me and does have a few problems so keeping him fit and healthy is my main aim and to see my daughter happily settled I guess. Oh yes, and to retire and become a full time crafter and get my cards into a shop somewhere. So not much to aim for then!! LOL

Turntable Josh is very cute Sparkle! I think my son Mateo would like this one too! Love the paper choices you made with this as always.

As far as a goal goes, I think my biggest goal right now is to lose weight. I've got about 60 pounds I'd like to take off and haven't really started yet, but I'd love to be at least 1/2 way there in the next few months. Now I just need a little added exercise mojo sent my way. :)

Ooooh! Another gorgeous stamp! My biggest goal, and an ongoing one, is to be able to accept myself for who I am. Simple, but so darn hard! :-)

Well, Sparkle...I'm not quite as ambitious as you, lol! Being that I am retired and have already spent my life working I am doing what I love now, which is staying home with my hubby of 49 years and enjoying our day to day life. I guess my most important goal at this point in my life is to continue to grow as a crafter and learn from blogs such as yours. Thanks for this opportunity :)

Congrats on achieving this milestone of a goal. As for myself, I rarely set major goals for myself - but this summer I am trying valiantly to stay ahead of the weeds in my garden.

What a great card. Josh looks super cute.

It looks like now I'm going to need to learn how to apply ez mount to some bare rubber cuz you know I'll be buying on the 10th. LOL.

I loved the story you shared with us and so happy for you that this is now a reality and not just a dream anymore.

I have no doubts that Sparkle Creations will one day be your full-time job.

3 months ago, my goal would be to have passed the CPA exam. Since that has happened, I haven't thought about much else. Too busy just enjoying the moment and time with my family since I'm not studying all the time.

Am loving the stamps that you've revealed so far, and can't wait to see the rest of the collection. Well done for starting up sparkle creations and I hope it continues to grow and flourish. Can I make one little request - I'm in London, so please don't make shipping costs to the UK too high, I'm sure lots of UK crafters will love your stamps!
As for my goal - the bigger one would be to finally beat cancer, which I've been fighting since being diagnosed in 2006. The smaller one would be to get onto a DT!!
Lots of love and luck,

ooooh! Big Time Congrats Sparkle!! I have been "following" you for years. Got to see all of your "art" orignally when you were a Close to my Heart Consultant!!

Although you are missed at CTMH I know you are on to big things!!!

My goal is simple at this point in my life. With kids 16 and 10 I am just trying my best to raise them to be happy, well adjusted people that treat people with respect. Doesn't sound to hard huh? Well it is ........ as alot of working moms know its a SERIOUS juggle to spend quality time with your kids when you work Fulltime. And let's face it ....... 16 yo teenage Girls can be a challenge in itself.

So for now........ goal is to raise my children. And remain sane (LOL) However I also just want to spend time with my friends as much as possible SCRAPPING and LAUGHING!!

Good Luck Sparkle!!

I would like to get back into a job I enjoy and that is challenging.

Donna said...

The goal that I am working towards right now, is to find the right balance with work, family, friends & play by January 2011, so that I can actually start scrapbooking for myself. Right now the only scrapbooking I get done are workshops for my store & gifts for other people.

BananaStamper said...

Another fantastic image Sparkle! Way to go!

Hmm, lots of goals I guess.... At work - to feel caught up, but that will only come after the new hire in my dept is settled. At home - to keep on with the organizing one area at a time & to finish our landscaping project - almost done! With hubby - have more date nights! With my boys, to continue to foster a love of books and of the earth. Hmmm, I am starting to get long-winded here, sorry!

Once again, Congrats Sparkle!

Kimberly said...

The answer came easily for me this morning because it is all I have thought about for weeks. Now that I am finished with my last round of certifications in grad school, I am going to fire my CTMH business back up and work to attract new customers and build a profitable business. Organizing workshops already!

My next big goal is focusing on home building this year. Who knew it would be so difficult to pick out what I like... from fixtures to appliances! lol

Ruthie said...

Hmmm - This has made me have a little think about goals - sometimes the day to day stuff can get in the way and then you miss out on the big game! well, I need to lose some weight - am going to the gym twice a week so fingers crossed. I did Race for Life and finished the 5K in just over an hour - I have another in late July - so would like to get that done in less than an hour...then there is a fun run of 5K - quite like the idea of entering that! Hmmmm lets just start with the second Race for LIfe!

Good luck with the new shop - sure you will soon need to be doing it full time!

great card! Turntable Josh sure looks cute, I love the swirling music. :) Hmmmm... my next real goal is to own a Stamp'n Scrap store. But like you, I'm scared that it will be too much work and no more fun. I guess we'll see... John is behind me if I want to give it a try so who knows? Maybe someday I'll have a retail store that carries Sparkle Creations!! :D
